Joye Goad, 90, former resident of Carlsbad, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021. Memorial service will be Tuesday, June 29, 2021, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Plumlee officiating. Joye Goad was born November 1, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas to Floyd and Opal Inez (Pinkston) Brown. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1948. Joye married John Goad December 31, 1948 in Carlsbad. She and John lived in Lovington, NM and California for a number of years. While in Brawley, CA Joye worked at Cowboy Shop Western Wear over 20 years. After they returned to Carlsbad, she worked at Collin Gerrells several years. Joye enjoyed her time in a number of ladies organizations including Women’s Bowling League, Ladies Golf Associations, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and playing cards with the ladies at Lakeview Village. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and known for her wonderful homemade ice cream. Joye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Goad and brother, W.A. ‘Sonny’ Brown. Survivors are son, Johnny Lynn Goad and wife, Dora; daughter, Janice Stewart; son, Jim Bob Goad and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
