Joyce P. Killion, 80, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Huston officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joyce P. Killion was born March 20, 1934 to Reginald Duncan and Maybell (Trusty) Shepherd in Highgate, St. Mary, Jamaica. She completed school in Jamaica before moving to the United States. Joyce married Estel Killion in Illinois on April 26, 1969. They moved to Carlsbad in the early 70's, where Joyce worked at JC Penney's until her retirement. Joyce was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church for over 35 years. She loved gardening and will always be remembered for her cheerfulness, generosity, helpfulness and friendliness toward others. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Estel. Survivors are sister, Dorothy Beckford of Toronto, Canada; cousin, Madge Braham of Jamaica as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Pallbearers will be Melvin Banister, Gene Bryant, Rick Chavez, Dan Daniels, Frank Martino and Norm Siepel. A memorial fund for Joyce's family in Jamaica has been set up through Epworth Methodist Church, 1406 West Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Donations can be marked "For the Love of Joyce" fund.
