Joyce Cox

Joyce Cox, 86, of Holland Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at her home. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Neatherlin officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joyce Cox was born August 31, 1929 in Wink, Texas. She moved to Carlsbad in 1957. Joyce married Kenneth Cox in 1945 in Odessa, Texas and they celebrated 70 years of marriage on December 22, 2015. She was a member of the Church of Christ with a Baptist background. Joyce enjoyed traveling in their motor home, camping, fishing and bowling. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nonie Lee Haynes. Survivors are her husband, Kenneth A. Cox of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Kenneth A. Cox, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Capitan, NM, Terry L. Cox and wife, Linda of Capitan, NM; Melanie Higgins, who was like a daughter to Joyce; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, W.C. Weir and wife, Linda and numerous nieces and nephews.
