Jovita M. Jimenez

Obituary Jovita "Susie" Jimenez was born July 1, 1928 in Fort Davis, TX to Miguel and Maria Martinez. She lived and attended school in Fort Davis until the 4th grade. She met and married the love of her life, Ricardo R. Jimenez while in Texas on December 25, 1947. They decided to venture out of Texas and made their move to New Mexico in 1951, where they lived the remainder of their lives and raised their three children. Jovita kept a very organized and clean household. This led her to work at Lakeview Christian doing housekeeping. She later took on various jobs working for individuals and helped them keep their homes clean and organized. She loved them all, but we would have to say her most loved and devoted were Prentiss and Alice ONeal along with their daughter Karen. They were more like a family than an employer. They loved Susie and she loved them. Susie helped Alice and Karen tend to Prentiss when he fell ill, then helped Karen take care of Alice during her illness. Through lifes ups and downs a bond was built that could never break. Karen carried that care forward by helping our family with mom up to her final hours. Jovita, Susie, loved to cook for people. In fact, anyone who walked through her doors never walked out with an empty stomach. Susie and her husband Ricardo often had friends and family over for fellowship and singing their favorite hymns. In addition to her love for cooking, she loved to sew, knit, crochet, play cards and dominos. While she loved her children, her biggest love was all 25 of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the true joy and light of her life. They knew her as Grandma, Granny & Nana. To each of them her one wish and hope was that they each take the words of wisdom she shared to heart, To always seek God first and to let Him be your guide so that you would never be or feel lost. She loved all of them beyond words. Her abiding Faith is what kept her going for 91 years, even through the challenges of losing her eyesight and failing health, she always looked to God to help her through whatever she was facing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ricardo, son Leroy, son in law Gilbert and grandson Gilbert Jr, and nine siblings. Susie is survived by her daughters: Rosemary Ogas and Patsy Jimenez; daughter-in-law, Dora Jimenez and one sister, Christine Riggs and husband Gene. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Felicia McDermott and spouse, Katie, Tisha & Jerome Segura, Lorraine Ogas, and fianc, Bobby Benavidez, Stephanie and Gabe Lopez and Richie Jimenez. Susie had 11 great-grandchildren: Jimmie, Matthew, Serena, Juve, Desirae, Andres, Noah, Sienna, Savanna, Sailor and Quinn; 7 great-great-grandchildren: Luna, Triniti, Raelynn, Lillianna, Akeleus, Zayden and Titan.
