Josie Mae Proffitt Wilson, 96, of Live Oak Place, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Lakeview Christian Home.
A private graveside service was held at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Josie Mae Proffitt Wilson was born September 25, 1920 in Hico, Texas to Hobert and Maggie (Parker) Proffitt. She started elementary school in Breckenridge, Texas and graduated from Hobbs High School. Josie Mae married Charles L. Wilson November 5, 1941 in Hobbs and they moved to Carlsbad in 1945. Josie Mae worked as registrar and attendance clerk over 28 years for the Carlsbad Senior High, retiring in 1985. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church. Josie Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles L. Wilson, 4 brothers and one sister.
Survivors are her son, Patrick Wilson and wife, Faye of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Clint Lee Wilson and wife, Melinda of Carlsbad, NM, Jolene Rogers and husband, Cory of Carlsbad, NM; great-grandchildren: Paige Rogers, Clay Wilson and Blaine Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.
