Josh Martinez

Josh Martinez, 27, of W. Plaza Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his home. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, February 11, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Terry McKean officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Josh Martinez was born September 8, 1988 in Carlsbad, NM to John R. Martinez and Cynthia Ward. He graduated from Carlsbad High School and also attended New Mexico State University-Carlsbad. Josh was self-taught in classical piano. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don Martinez, Tatha Ward and Virgil Ward. Survivors are his father, John R. Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Cynthia Ward of Carlsbad, NM; "aunt-mom", Grace A. Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; brothers: James Rubio, Scott Sing and Steve Montanez, all of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Megan Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; uncles: Porf Martinez, Jr. and Donny Martinez, both of Carlsbad, NM; grandmother, Rita Martinez of Carlsbad, NM.
