Joshua Austin, 20, of Los Nogales Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away November 29, 2023 in Carlsbad. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, December 8, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Josh was born October 15, 2003 in Carlsbad, NM to Lee and Shawna (Wilbourn) Austin. He enjoyed playing baseball and soccer throughout school.  Josh graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2022.  He was a hard worker starting at the age of 13.  Josh operated his own lawn service and pressure washing business.  He currently worked for LA Services as office manager.  He was passionate about riding dirt bikes and anything with a motor.  Josh loved fishing, playing Rust and enjoyed learning about investing.  He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Jay and Nadine Wilbourn; grandmother, Jan Carrico and uncle Scooter Carrico.

Survivors are his parents: Lee & Shawna Austin; fiancé, Jalie Meadors; sister, Haylee Austin and Bryce Prouty; brothers: Shawn Austin, Gabe Austin, and Luke Austin; niece, Blaire Prouty; nephew, Emersyn Prouty; grandparents: Steve and Gloria Austin, Marsha and Tim Tompson, and Pat and Leigh Rookstool; uncles: John Austin and Chase Fluhman; aunts: Stephanie Austin, Shannel Stemmons, Teresa Chavez and husband, Jay, Heather Bogunovich, Jennifer Galloway, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Austin, Jaden Kaeck, Zebbie Brimhall, Jr., Michael Mellies, Weston Baker, Edward Granger, Zack Austin, and John Austin.
