Joseph T. Funk, 92, of N. Halagueno Street, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, July 11, 2016, 9:30 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Lodge of Sorrows will convene Monday, July 11, 2016, 9:00 AM at Eddy Lodge. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joseph T. Funk was born July 6, 1924 in La Jara, Colorado to Isaac Leroy and Myrtle Althea (Brown) Funk. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 1942. Joe moved to Utah and attended Dixie Junior College while working for a jewelry store. He moved to Artesia and later to Carlsbad in 1956. Joe went to work for Southern Union Gas Co. and retired with PNM after 35 years of service. He married Opal Marie May November 12, 1976 in Hobbs, NM. Joe's hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling and reading. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite - 32nd degree and the Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, all of Eddy Lodge, #21. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Opal Marie Funk; sisters, Catherine Raschke and Deiaon Jones. Survivors are Carol Wooden of Carlsbad, NM; sons: William Brent Funk and Tammy Diane Pierce of Hobbs, NM, Joe Mark Funk and wife, Marret of Peoria, Arizona; daughters: Beth Funk Moline of Cushing, Oklahoma, Cindy Wooden; grandchildren: Kyle Funk, Brianna Jonas, Keisha Elsberry, Zachry Funk, Ryan Moline, Rex Moline, Jacob Funk, Rebekah Funk and Cole Young; brother, Harold Funk of Hobbs, NM; sisters: Faye Varner of Artesia, NM, Margery Goldston of Boulder City, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Harold Coats, Kyle Funk, Ryan Moline, Zachry Funk, Jacob Funk and Cole Young. Honorary pallbearers are Rex Moline, Landon Elsberry and Travis Jonas.
