J.B Vaughn, 90, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday March 17th, 2016 in Carlsbad, NM Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
"Born Dec 1st, 1925 to Father J.F. Vaughn and Mother Alice Vaughn in Paducah, Texas. Moved to Amhurst, Texas in 1933 and then to Earth, Texas. Moved to Carlsbad in 1941. Worked at Carlsbad Airport to help Benny Barrack (Barrick) for the Army Air Force. Worked for Hill Truck Lines in 1942. Went into the Army in 1944. Was in the 86th Infantry Division as Staff Sergeant and was 3rd gunner on the 81mm mortar. Done service in Germany, France and Austria. Was in Battle of the Bulge. Went from Germany to the Philippines, then home in 1946. Worked for ICX Truck Lines and Whitfield & Son Trucking. Retired in 1991."

After the war, he returned to Carlsbad and married the girl next door, Eula Geraldine (Gerri) Farnsworth in 1947. He and Gerri raised a family of five children - Sandy, Mike, Judy, and twins Ronald Paul and Paula Jane.
He is preceded in death by parents, Frank Joseph Vaughn and Mary Alioce Vaughn, wife Gerri Vaughn; infant twins Ronald Paul and Paula Jane; brother, Sydney Vaughn, and sisters Gladys Sulser and Clara Mae Jones.
He is survived by wife, Jackie Vaughn; daughter Sandy Collier and husband Dwayne Collier of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Dr. Mike Vaughn and wife, Dr. Jennifer Vaughn of Leander, Texas; daughter, Judy Crystal of Cedar Park, Texas; and step son, Jody Briggs and wife, Lennie Briggs of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren, and sister, Katherine Welch and husband, Billy Welch of Amarillo, Texas.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Denton Wood Funeral Home, 1001 N Canal Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Lodge of Sorrows will convene Monday, March 21, 2016, 9:30 AM at Eddy Lodge.
Services will be held Monday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Mike Veilleux officiating. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
