Jose G. Vasquez, Sr., 76, of West Greene Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Heartland Care of Artesia in Artesia, NM. There will be no public visitation, cremation will take place. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 7, 2013, 2:00 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jose G. Vasquez, Sr. was born on June 2, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to Enrique and Manuela (Gomez) Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Salgado; son, Leovardo Vasquez and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors are three children: Jose S. Vasquez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM,Stephanie Corey and husband, Eric of Carterville, Illinois, Alcario A. Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM; mother of his children: Belen Vasquez; grandchildren: Michele Vasquez, Jose G. Vasquez, III, Kenneth Vasquez, Dietrick Vasquez, Monika Salgado, Demitria Salgado, Laurie Vasquez, Leo Vasquez, Jr., Damian Vasquez, Timoteo Vasquez, Katie Vasquez, Sophia Corey and Ashley Murray; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Asusana Rodriguez of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
