Jon Michael Norris

Our dad, PawPaw, brother, uncle, cousin and friend has gone to heaven with angel wings. Jon Michael Norris of 11th Street, Carlsbad, NM, left us on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born January 7, 1966 in Carlsbad, NM to CM and Bobbye Norris. Jon graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1984. He married his high school sweetheart and moved to San Antonio, Texas. His career in Texas was mainly in electrical. He returned in the spring 1997, and went to work in the oil patch. Jon loved geology, so he was a great employee for Kenneth Johnson and prior to that Morco Technologies. He was a rock hound and was always picking up rocks and bringing them to people. Jon was preceded in death by his parents the year he graduated from high school. He is survived by his children, Jessie Rice and husband, AJ of Nixon, Texas, Allie Hamblin of Carlsbad, NM, Jacob Norris and wife, Nieves of Carlsbad, NM, Tony Hand and wife, AJ of Austin, Texas, Joshua Norris of Carlsbad, NM and Kyle Hand of Carlsbad, NM. He loved 7 beautiful grandchildren: Tyler and Coralie Barillet and Finnley Rice of Nixon, Texas, Jaxson Hamblin of Carlsbad, NM, Coby and Ryan Norris of Carlsbad, NM and Nova Hand of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by a brother, Connie "Skeebo" Norris and wife, Shirley of San Saba, Texas; sister, Katrina Waters and husband, Bill of Carlsbad, NM and one aunt, Mary Day of Grapevine, Texas along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John A. Burke officiating.
