Johnny "Chief" G. Methola

Johnny G. "Chief" Methola, 74, of W. Ortega, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away August 22, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Friday, August 26, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca, Carlsbad, NM. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Phil Ley OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Johnny G. Methola was born July 22, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to Felix and Lillian (Garcia) Methola. He married his darling Mickie Yanez here in Carlsbad. Johnny served his country in the US Army from 1956 to 1959 as a combat engineer. He was a farmer for many years. Johnny went to work for PCA where he worked for 29 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which were his "angels". He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilee Garza, and special cousin Frank "Pancho" Olguin. Survivors include his wife: Mickey Methola; children: Patrick M. Methola and wife, Cheyenne of Carlsbad, NM, Lillian M. Rueda and husband, Joe of Carlsbad, NM, Johnny Y. Methola of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Trisha Hernandez, Tenille Ortiz, Patrick "Boy" Methola II, Tiffany Methola, Michelle Hernandez, Lil' Joe Rueda, Travis Rueda, Krystal "Blu" Rueda, Cierra Methola, Victoriana Methola and John'A Methola; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Tommy Methola, Louie Methola, Felix Methola, Ray Methola, Billy Methola, George Methola, Ricky Methola, Larry Joe Methola, Ysidro Methola; sisters: Betty Huerta; and numerous neices, nephews and extended family.
