Johnny Baiza

Johnny Baiza, 70, of Normandy Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at his home. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Johnny Baiza was born June 21, 1943 in Loving, NM to Jesusita "Chita" Sanchez. Johnny was a Spc E-4 in the Army National Guard HQ Company 5th MED Tank Battalion of New Mexico. He was also an employee for the City of Carlsbad Water Department and the caretaker for the Carlsbad Cemetery before becoming disabled. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jesusita Valentina Sanchez "Chita"; daughter, Jana Y. Baiza on May 1, 2012; son, Johnny Baiza, Jr. and brother, Manuel Baiza. Survivors are grandchildren: Michael Martinez, Michelle Martinez, Ray Albert Gonzalez, Jr., Arianna Gonzalez; great-grandchild, Coron Martinez; siblings: Poncho Baiza, Frances Methola, Edward Carrion and best friend, Barney Dorado.
