She was born on November 8, 1928, in Goldthwaite, Texas to Robert Oscar and Edna Leon Patterson. Johnnie was the youngest of five children and grew up along the Colorado River in Central Texas. She met the love of her life, Cloise A. Mosier when he returned to Texas after serving in WWII. He got off the bus in Goldthwaite, TX and stopped in for a meal at the café, where she was working as a waitress, before heading home. Soon they were married and the two visited Carlsbad, NM and never left. The two were married for seventy years when Cloise passed in 2016.
They lived at the Thayer Apartments until they bought their family home on Fourth Street where they lived for more than seventy years. After their two daughters were raised, Johnnie went to work and retired as a cook for the Carlsbad Municipal Schools. Johnnie was a member of South Side Church of Christ. She enjoyed everything outdoors, camping, riding side-by-sides, fishing, hunting, gardening, and yard work. She started playing women’s softball in the late 1940’s and continued into the late 1970’s. She started bowling in the 1950’s and continued to the early 2000’s. Mostly, she enjoyed being with family and friends. Johnnie had a contagious laugh, enjoyed having fun and lovingly opened her home to her family and friends.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Reba Williams and Willie Bell Doggett; brothers, Garland O. Patterson and James E. Patterson; and nephew Gary Williams who was like a son to her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Farmer and Gaylon Williams (Avery); four grandchildren, Randy Farmer (Lisa), Gayla Farmer, Jennifer Moyers (Jessica), Clayton Williams (Ketty); five great-grandchildren: Josh Farmer, Chelsea Moon (Zach), Dayton Kale Williams, Joni Moyers, and Jonah Moyers; and three great-great-grandchildren: Brooke, Savanah, and Hunter Moon.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Lakeview Christian Hospice Care for their loving support and care.
