John Paul Scott, 98, of Harding Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 2, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 12 noon, Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Herb Gage officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
John Paul Scott was born July 8, 1911 in Mangum, OK to James Monroe and Laura (Edwards) Scott. He was raised in Childress, TX. At the age of 16 he moved to New Mexico and cowboyed near Roy, New Mexico. He worked in numerous other professions. John Paul married Wyema in Los Angeles, California in 1939. He retired to Carlsbad in 1990. John Paul enjoyed telling stores and reminiscing about the past. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wyema Weathered Scott who passed away July 6, 1983, three brothers and eight sisters.
Survivors are two nieces: Joan Stone and husband, Hershel of Carlsbad, NM, Jean Sumruld and husband, James of Hobbs, NM, five grand-nephews; one grand-niece, two great-grand-nephews; six great-grand-nieces; one great-great-grand-nephew.
