John G. Johnson

John G. Johnson, 94, of North Thomas Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away October 5, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home. Cremation has taken place and there will be no public service. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. John G. Johnson was born October 22, 1914 in Maxwell, New Mexico to Arthur and Emma Christina (Christiansen) Johnson. He worked in the mines in Terrero, New Mexico and moved to Nevada City, CA where he worked in the mines as well. John moved to Carlsbad in 1941 and was employed with IMC 37 years before retiring in 1978. He was a life member of the Elks BPOE # 1558. John was a member for 69 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen W. Johnson and six siblings. He is survived by two sons: Art Johnson of Carlsbad, NM, Sid Johnson and wife, Becky of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren: Misty Eileen Fisher, Diana Kay Cox, Toni Leigh Rogero, Jay Truman Johnson and six great-grandchildren.
