John E. Goad, 84, of Plum Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away February 4, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home.
There will be no visitation as cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, February 8, 2010, 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Boyd officiating.
There will be a private interment.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
John E. Goad was born December 9, 1925 in Eastland, TX to J. T. and Helen (Latham) Goad. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. When John returned he graduated with the class of 1947 from Carlsbad High School. He married Joye Brown on December 31, 1948. John worked in the car business for many years. He was the sales manager for Gateway Motors and worked for several other dealerships in Carlsbad and Lovington. John and Joye moved to Brawley, CA in 1973, where he worked in the pasture cattle business until retiring and returning to Carlsbad in 1993. He enjoyed roping and golfing and working as a Marshal at Lake Carlsbad Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivers include his wife, Joye Goad of Carlsbad, NM; three children: Johnny Lynn Goad and wife, Dora of Las Cruces, NM, Janice Stewart of Ruidiso, NM, Jim Bob Goad and wife, Terri of Claremore, OK; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey Goad, Jessie Goad, Justin Goad, Stephanie Stewart, Danny Goad, Melissa Goad, Dorina Lopez and Miguel Garcia; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Bowman of Carlsbad, NM, LaVerne Gerrells and husband, Collin of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers: Joe Goad and wife, Barbara of Lorena, TX, Marion "Shorty" Goad of Mineola, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
