John E. Brosky

John E. Brosky, 93, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2012, 10:00 AM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. John E. Brosky was born February 6, 1918 in Weedville, Pennsylvania to Frank and Josephine (Novosat) Brosky. He married Victoria Janet Sekula on November 30, 1940 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1956. He worked as an Electrician for Amax Potash and IMC and for a time was a salesman. He was a Gold Card member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of IBEW Union, Charter member of the NRA and St. Edward Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank Brosky and Robert Brosky. Survivors are his wife, Victoria J. Brosky of Carlsbad, NM; three daughters: Judith Macdonald and husband, Dennis of Arlington, VA, Jean McKee and husband, Russ of Artesia, NM, Jo Ann Hedderman and husband, Richard of The Woodlands, TX; son, John E. Brosky, Jr. and wife, Susan of Pryor, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jeanne Rigdon Dowdell of Norfolk, VA, Denise Rigdon Benson of Hobbs, NM, Floyd Birney "Skip" Rigdon, II of Artesia, NM, Richard Hedderman of The Woodlands, TX, Dr. Jason Hedderman of Columbia, Missouri, Brendon Brosky of Tulsa, Ok, Logan Brosky of Tulsa, OK, Cameron Brosky of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren: Robyn Rose Polinice and Eric Michael Roberts of Norfolk, VA, Kyle Ray Jackson; great-great-grandchildren: MaKayla and Vincent Polinice, Derian and Cayden Roberts, Ryer, Rose, Reed and Ruth Hedderman, Abilgail, Kenton, Samson Brosky and Hunter Murphy; brothers: George Brosky and wife Yvonne, Joe Brosky and wife, Nadine of Brockway, PA and sister, Anna Carney of DuBois, PA. Pallbearers are John E. Brosky, Jr., Dennis Macdonald, Kyle Jackson, Richard Hedderman, Russ McKee and Skip Rigdon, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis Lihosit and Knights of Columbus.
