Joe Henry Aschbacher

Joe Henry Aschbacher, 81, former resident passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 in McAllen, Texas. A Memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Church of God of Prophecy, 509 N. 11th Street, with Joe's nephew, Rev. Eddie Bradshaw officiating Joe Aschbacher was born on December 21, 1933 at the family's homestead near Elida, NM to Joe H. and Mayme L. (Davis) Aschbacher, Sr. He attended school in Elida and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1951. Joe met and married Dakota Burkham in 1953 and to this union four daughters were born. Joe built many structures in the Carlsbad, Elida and south Texas areas. He married Patsy Ruth (Steele) Herrin in 1978. Joe loved to play music and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mayme Aschbacher, first wife, Dakota; second wife, Patsy, step-son, Johnny Herrin and niece, Caroline Bradshaw. He is survived by daughters: Kitty Mosley of Premont TX, Clarissa Saum of Artesia NM, Joy Getha of Parker CO, Elizabeth Drennan of Spring TX; his sister, Goldie Bradshaw of Carlsbad NM; step-daughter, Donna Herrin of Edinburg TX, several nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE # 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or to Comfort House Hospice, 617 Dallas Avenue, McAllen, TX 78501.
