Jody Mackenzie

Jody Mackenzie, 72, of Norris Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014, 3:00 PM, at Loving Baptist Church with Pastor Zack Palen officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jody Mackenzie was born on October 20, 1941, in Piedmont, California to William A. Mackenzie and Elizabeth (Jordan) Shafer. She worked at Lawrence Livermore Lab in Livermore, California for 20 years and Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California for 18 years. Jody moved to Carlsbad in 2005 and became business partners with Carol-Renee. Jody enjoyed traveling, shopping and dining out at restaurants. Survivors are her lifelong friend and partner of 47 years, Carol Modrall of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Elizabeth Shafer of Coronada, California; brother, Owen Shafer of California; sons: Bob Modrall of Carlsbad, NM, Sam Modrall of California, Steve Modrall of Roswell, NM; three grandchildren: Shanda Modrall, Scott Modrall, Samantha Modrall; one great-grandson, Jakub Anthony Hernandez; nieces and nephews: Benjamin, Stacy Anne, John McNeil and Lainey Schafer, all of California; three little chihuahuas: Lola, Muffin, Austin and cat, Peanut.
