Jim A. McHenry

Jim A. McHenry, 84, of Iona Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 19, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Philip Huston officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jim A. McHenry was born October 19, 1931 in Buffalo, New York to Thomas Joseph and Irene Rita (Neth) McHenry. He married Marie Annette Abbey April 29, 1961 in Tonawanda, New York. They moved to New Mexico in 1974 and Jim went to work for the State of New Mexico in 1984, retiring as a senior revenue agent in 1997. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, American Legion - Post #14 and a friend of the Living Desert Zoo. Jim's hobbies included collecting stamps and coins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie A. McHenry; sons: Sean McHenry and Daniel McHenry; sisters: Luella Polowy, Helen Miller, Jenny Shaw and Irene Turner; brother, Thomas McHenry, Jr. Survivors are his sons: Tim McHenry and wife, Paula of Hobbs, NM, Gregory McHenry of Red River, NM, Robert McHenry of Las Vegas, NM, Donald Telle of Philadelphia, PA; daughters: Daneen McHenry of Las Vegas, NM, Susan Telle of Phoenix, AZ; nephew, Edward J. Polowy of Carlsbad, NM; 4 grandchildren; sister, Doris Baven. Pallbearers will be Edward J. Polowy, Clayton Bost, Larry Henderson, Richard Farrell, Adrian Delgado and Dick Isaboke.
