Jewel D. Blair, Sr., 85, of Jones Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home- Chapel with Pastor Gary Wolfe officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Jewel D. Blair, Sr. was born on February 20, 1928, in Potosi, Missouri, to Trenton and Eura Mae (Graves) Blair. He worked on Air Force Once during the Kennedy Administration and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Jewel retired as an electrician with WIPP. He liked to work on porsches and corvettes. Jewel loved to watch TV. He had a great will to live and put up a good fight battling three cancers. Jewel was known as "The Old Goat". He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Blair; and wife, Cara Nome Vollmen Blair.
Survivors are his children: Cheryl Bradley and husband, Richard of Carlsbad, NM, Kevin Blair and wife, Yolanda of Carlsbad, NM; J.D. Blair, Jr. and wife, Dana of Abilene, Texas; Wayne Blair and wife, Ida of Carlsbad, NM, Robin Wehunt and husband, Mark of Carlsbad, NM; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Robert Blair, Derik Blair, Scott Vera, Vincent Vera, Mark Allen and Freddie Trevino.
