Jesus M. "Chuy" Olivas, 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Heartland Care of Hobbs, NM. Visitation will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2011, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 North Canal Street. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Caterina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jesus M. "Chuy" Olivas was born to Juan and Aurelia (Molina) Olivas in Redford, TX on April 7, 1930. He married Erminia Villa Olivas April 26, 1952, she preceded him in death on January 17, 2002. Jesus worked as a cement finisher for G.S. Granger Construction for over 30 years. He was also preceded in death by three sons: Armando, Jerry and Juan Olivas; one great-grandson and one grandson. He is survived by son, Louis Olivas of Murrietta, CA; three daughters: Avelina Ortiz, Veronica Sosa and Lisa Olivas all of Hobbs, NM; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Louis Olivas, Frankie Sosa, Fred Olivas, Zaul Alvarado, Oscar Hernandez and Jacob Salas. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
