Jerald "Jerry" Ray Vest

Jerald Ray "Jerry" Vest, 45, of East Wood Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at his home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Baptist Church, 4103 W. Texas Street, Carlsbad, NM with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jerald Ray "Jerry" Vest was born April 6, 1966 in Hobbs, New Mexico. His passion was jockeying, he became a trainer with race horses. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an active member in the Alono Club. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and grandson's. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Jolene Vest. He is survived by daughter, Diana Smart and Adrian O. Garcia of Carlsbad, NM; two grandsons: Aiden Garcia and Bryce Buris of Carlsbad, NM; parents, Stanley and Joyce Vest of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Gil Vest and wife, Kenna of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Dana Asbury of Carlsbad, NM; nieces and nephews: Monica and husband, Aaron, Dustin, Jeramiah, Nichole, Reanna, Olivia and husband, Steven, Courtney, Garrett, Kaydyance and Jory; plus extended family with the Alano Club. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Alano Club, Terry Wilson, Rodney Holcomb, Grant Willis, Floyd Tiller, Scott Hotter and Randy Melton.
