Jeffrey Alan "Jeff" Pond, 38, of East Sunrise Road, Malaga, New Mexico, passed away October 28, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2015, 2:30 PM, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jeffrey Alan "Jeff" Pond was born August 14, 1977 in Tucson, AZ to Richard and Caryn (Westfall) Pond and moved to Carlsbad with his parents as an infant. He graduated form Carlsbad High School in 1996. Jeff married Amanda Walker on May 11, 2002. Jeff has worked for various companies in pipeline construction during the past 20 years. Jeff was selected to be a member of the FFA National Choir and earned his Eagle Scout Badge in 1995. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. Jeff loved taking his kids hunting and watching them play sports. They were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert "Bob" Westfall and grandparents J. A. and Bobbie Pond. Survivors are his wife, Amanda Pond of Malaga, NM; three sons: Jackson Pond, Gus Pond, Nolan Pond all of Malaga, NM; parents: Richard and Caryn Pond of Seguin, TX; grandmother, Leila Westfall of Seguin, TX; sister, Lesli Mahaffey and husband, Tyson of Sequin, TX; niece and nephews: Megan Mahaffey, Jake Mahaffey, Will Gray Mahaffey; mother-in-law, Bobbie McWilliams and husband, Monty; father-in-law, Jae Walker and Pat; brother-in-law, Cody Walker and wife, Tirzah and their children Colton and Jayden. Pallbearers will be Kris Westfall, Ross Westfall, Kirk Westfall, Derrick Smith, David Smith, Tyson Mahaffey, Keith Dodson and Andy Magby. Honorary pallbearers are David Lewis, Cisco Navarrete and Cody Walker. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
