Obituary
Jeannie Houchin, 71, of Hidalgo Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque, NM.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at Sunset Church of Christ with Terry McKean.Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jeannie was born October 31, 1946 in North Platte, Nebraska to Pete and Doris (Anderson) Houchin. She married Eugene Santo in Nebraska and lived in Grant, NE until moving to Carlsbad in 1980. Jeannie loved God, her family, and Nebraska Cornhusker football. She left a legacy of love to all who knew her. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and making crafts for her friends and family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in their specific endeavors. Jeannie was a caretaker, and spent much time encouraging those around her. Throughout the years, she worked as a caregiver for children and the elderly. She touched so many lives as evidenced by so many who are proud to call her Mema. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Karen McCown and Sharon Hernandez; brother, Mike Houchin and great-grandson, Lucas Hernandez.
Survivors are her children: Doug Santo and wife, Linda, Sally Rasmussen and wife, Blanca, Brian Santo and wife, Bobbie, Rebecca Santo and Regina Santo; grandchildren: Timothy Santo, Jonathan Hernandez, Anthony Santo, Chelssea Bratcher and husband, Dustin, Brianna Santo and Aliyah Santo; great-grandchildren: Camden Santo and Bendyl Bratcher; brother, Richard Houchin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Santo, Anthony Santo, Dustin Bratcher, Nick Neill, T.J. Neill, Steve McCown, Gary McCown and Jim Wittman. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Hernandez, Lucas Hernandez, and Tom Ketcham.
