Jean Potts

Jean Potts, 84, of Dearborn Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2012, 10:30 AM, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Randy C. Land officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jean Potts was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on February 16, 1928 to Harrison C. and Syble (Reynolds) Tidwell. She attended school in Otis. Jean married William J. Potts on August 19, 1943 in Carlsbad. During Bill's career with the FAA, they had the opportunity to live in several towns in New Mexico, Texas and Alaska with Alaska being the most adventurous. They returned to Carlsbad in 1979, where Jean has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church for many years. For many years her hobbies included painting, playing the piano, reading, flower gardening and more recently games and email on the internet. In recent years she enjoyed computer games, playing the piano, reading and her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and a sister. She is survived by her husband, William J. "Bill" Potts in Carlsbad, NM; son, Jimmy Potts and wife, Meredith of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Janis Fierro and husband, Don of Carlsbad, NM; two granddaughters: Roxanna Lewis, Aleasha Daniels; grandsons: Ken McAnally, W. Shane McAnally, Richard Potts, Scott Wilbourn; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law, Ersa Tidwell numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs: Coco and Buddy.
