Jasper Lee Powell

Jasper Lee Powell, 14, of N. Canal Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 29, 2023 at Carlsbad Medical Center.  Visitation will be 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, January 8, 2024 at First Methodist Church with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jasper Lee Powell was born December 30, 2008.  He played football at PR Leyva.  Jasper was currently a freshman at Carlsbad High School and involved with FFA.  He loved the cowboy way of life.  Jasper loved his horses, riding dirt bikes, working on trucks and gaming with his friends.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always making people laugh.  Jasper was always there to help anyone in need.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommy Powell and great-grandmother, Mary Zeleznaker.

Survivors are his mother, Sarah D. Powell and husband, Cory Bryan; father, Casey Powell and wife, Duv; brother, Taylor Powell; sisters: Kyra Powell and Charlotte Powell; stepsister, Makaighlah Finkemeier; stepbrother, Ryker Finkemeier; maternal grandmother, Debbie Cross and husband, Austin; maternal grandfather, Leland Caudill and wife, Brandy; paternal grandmother, Leslie Powell; great-grandparents, David and Hazel Brannan, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Powell, Justin Maxwell, Justin Cahill, Jody Cottingham, Austin Warden, and Casey Powell.  Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Watts, Skyler Jameson, Jared Amyx, Nathan “Buddy” Sanchez, Gunr Alexander, Blane Smith and Walter Smith.
