Janice P. Garwood

Janice P. Garwood, 64, of Elgin Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Shirley officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Janice P. Garwood was born October 5, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to William N. and Mary (Goad) Whitney. She married William "Bill" Garwood on February 10, 1977 in Evansville, Indiana. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1990. Janice worked at the Cavern Bookstore and was a hospice volunteer. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sandra Yancy. Survivors are her husband, Bill Garwood of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Mary Garwood of Carlsbad, NM; son, James Garwood and wife, Susan of Evansville, IN; granddaughters: Emily Garwood of Evansville, IN, Clarissa Lopez of Carlsbad, NM; grandson, Reazon Garwood of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Paul Whitney of Evansville, IN and sister, Billie Frank of Evansville, IN.
