Janette (Pryor) Stockdale, was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on June 6, 1919 to Frederick H. and Viva (Bruce) Pryor and was raised with her four siblings on a small farm outside of Cedar Rapids. She met the love of her life, Paul Davis Barrett, at Newman's Department store in Cedar Rapids, where they were both employed. They married and eventually moved to El Paso, Texas where he operated his own business until his death in 1965. During their marriage he encouraged her to pursue her long-held dream of a private pilot's license. She became not only a private pilot but she took and passed her instrument rating exam. She was very proud of these accomplishments and Paul bought her a small plane in celebration. They took many happy trips in her plane until his death. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Winifred, Bruce, Irma French and Frederick; son-in-law, Bruce Michael Newcomb.
Survivors are daughter, Sharon Kay Newcomb of Vista, California; niece, Linda French of Kentucky; nephew, Steven French of Florida. Also, her dear friend, Peggy Moore of Carlsbad, who cared for her with love and devotion which enriched her final years.
