Janet Pearce Bloom

On November 9, 2014 the Lord took home an angel. Janet P. Bloom was born May 3, 1928, to James Benjamin and Madge Janet (Yenne) Pearce in La Junta, Colorado, where she also grew up. She attended the University of Colorado but changed majors several times thereby unable to graduate. Janet married Norman D. Bloom, Jr. and had 3 beautiful daughters: Ellen Stephens, Nancy Wilson and Verna Clevinger. She is also survived by her foster daughter, Happy Davis. Janet had lived in Boulder, Colorado, Artesia, Albuquerque and Alamogordo, NM finally making her home here in Carlsbad, NM. She returned to school at the University of New Mexico in 1970, graduating in 1972. She had worked in retail sales, as a country school teacher and retired as an Income Support Caseworker for the State of New Mexico after 20 years of service. Janet led a Campfire Girls group, was active in the Alamogordo Players Workshop and the Cat's Meow Thrift Store. She was a member of PERA, Red Hatters, the Choir of Grace Church and an active member of Grace Women and Daughters of the King. Janet was a Sunday school teacher, a lector, a Eucharistic minister and served on the vestry. She had a strong love for her family and her cats. Janet is survived by 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband and two great-grandsons, Jessie and Nathan Majors. Janet lived her life according to her faith and always had time for all those who met her. She will be terribly missed. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Grace Episcopal Church with Father Rod Hurst officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
