James Eugene Thompson

Obituary Eugene Thompson, 85, of Ferguson Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at New Song Christian Fellowship with Pastor John A. Burke officiating. Interment will take place at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 27, 2018 in Canadian Cemetery, Canadian, Texas. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Eugene Thompson was born November 7, 1932 in Hemphill County, Texas to Earl Allen and Lillian (Rowley) Thompson and was raised in Canadian, Texas. His love for math and serving people flowed through his career interests as nursing home administrator, accountant and police work. Eugenes passion for God and country were demonstrated by participation in Church, Gideons, Emmaus and various community boards. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lottie Thompson; son, Bruce Thompson, Sr.; grandson: Bruce Thompson, Jr.; sisters: Leona Sword and Allene Sword and brother, Leo Thompson. Survivors are his daughter, Bertha Cassingham and husband, Scott of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Katie Appling, Clint Cassingham, Doa Cassingham, James Thompson and Christina Cooper; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
