James Sloan, Jr., 69, of Solana, Carlsbad, NM, passed away November 24, 2013 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 1:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
James Sloan Jr., born on August 22, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, the first son of Manuela Lujan Sloan and James P. Sloan. James was baptized on September 24, 1944, in the parish of Guardian Angel of the Roman Catholic Church, El Paso, TX. James worked at Kerr McGee Potash Mine as a hoist-man for 43 years, and retired in March of 2011. James enjoyed country and western dancing, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. Jr. will be sorely missed by many. A special thank you to Hospice nurses and healthcare staff for helping be comfortable and at peace. He was preceded in death by his father; sisters: Linda-Jean Sloan and Lucy Tidwell.
Survivors are children: Kelley Sloan-Rickert and husband, Stuart of Little Elm, TX, Jimmy Sloan of Carlsbad, NM, Connie-Sue Narcisso and husband, Wilson of Las Cruces, NM, Matthew Kyle Sloan of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Whitney Alexander, Kathryn Rickert, Reilly Rickert, Scotti Sloan, Joshua Narcisso, Kora Narcisso, Taylor-Sue Sloan-Narcisso; siblings: Lorena Sisk and husband, Harold of Carlsbad, NM, Jesse Sloan and wife, Joyce of Carlsbad, NM, LaVern Johnston and husband, Terry of Carlsbad, NM; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends; mother, Manuelita Sloan of Carlsbad, NM.
