James Albert "Jim" Moss, 76, of Pecos River Drive, passed from this life Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home in Riverbend, after fighting cancer for six months.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill, Terry McKean, and Mike Veilleux officiating.

James Albert Moss was born on October 5, 1933 in Roswell, NM to Albert B. and Nellie (Kinney) Moss. His family moved to Carlsbad when he was two years old. Jim graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1951 and from Abilene Christian University in May 1955. Two months later he was inducted into the Army and after basic training was enrolled in Army Stenographer School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim married Loueva "Lucy" Hawkins on December 23, 1955 in Carlsbad, NM. They were stationed in Heidelberg, Germany for almost 1 1/2 years with the Army, then they moved back to Carlsbad, NM in July, 1957 where he worked for Duval Potash Company. In 1964 he was transferred to Duval's copper mine in Kingman, Arizona. He also worked for Duval's copper mine in Battle Mountain, Nevada for two years and for Duval's Sulphur mine (Pennzoil) in Orla, Texas. The family lived in Pecos, Texas until 1982 when they moved back to their starting point in Carlsbad. Jim continued to work for Pennzoil Sulphur as Chief Accountant until he retired in 1992, after 35 years with the same company. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ. Jim served as a deacon in the church and taught classes of every grade level throughout his life. Because of his love for young people he coveted the time spent in teaching at Skyridge Christian Youth Camp in the Sacramento Mountains. Through his dedicated work, he influenced the lives of numerous young people. Jim was a good Christian husband, father and grandfather, loved and appreciated by his children and adored by his twelve grandchildren. He enjoyed creating a beautiful yard and garden to be enjoyed by others. Hiking and camping out in the woods and walking along the River Walk were favorite activities.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Loueva "Lucy" Hawkins Moss of Carlsbad, NM; three sons: Randy Moss and wife, Kelley of Lubbock, TX, Dave Moss and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque, NM, Brian Moss and wife, Katrina of Shepshed, England; daughter, Diane Johnson and husband, Jimmy of Carlsbad, NM; twelve grandchildren: Sean, Amanda, McKenzie, Krista, Kayla, Michael, Megan, Maisie and Scott Moss; Kevin, Luke and Dane Johnson; brother, Robert D. "Bob" Moss of Carlsbad, NM and numerous cousins, relatives and a host of friends.
