James "Jim" Calhoun

James "Jim" Calhoun, 81, of Bryan Circle, Carlsbad, NM passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at his home. Cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Boyd officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. James "Jim" Calhoun was born January 21, 1934 in Kiowa, OK to Martin and Relda (Williams) Calhoun and moved to Carlsbad with his parents at the age of six. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1953. Jim married Marian Lewandowski January 22, 1971. He worked for US Borax where he worked as a surveyor. Jim also worked as a safety engineer for various construction companies, later a car salesman and Eddy County Sheriff's Department before retiring. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1558 where he is Past Exulted Ruler, Eddy Masonic Lodge and Carlsbad Shrine. Jim was a long time member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Bob and David Calhoun. Survivors are his wife, Marian Calhoun of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughters: Yvonna "Lynn" Borzillo and husband, Gary of Old Lyme, CT, Barbara "Barb" Schmitz and husband, Bob of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Retha Calhoun of Carlsbad, NM, Bernice Martin of Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
