James E. "Ed" Spivey, 82, of North 5th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 25, 2011 at his home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Jim Bartlett officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
James E. "Ed" Spivey was born April 12, 1928 in Piedmont, AL, to Sidney and Pauline (Stephenson) Spivey. He married Joyce Propes in 1950 in Rome, GA. They moved to Carlsbad in 1962 where Ed started work at Southwest Potash. He worked in the potash mine as an electrician 26 years. Ed enjoyed fishing and traveling in their RV. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene, Cecil and Hollis Spivey and sister Hazel Grubb.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Spivey of Carlsbad, NM; son, James Spivey of Roswell, NM; three brothers: H.C. Spivey, Charles Spivey and Lamar Spivey; one sister, Sandra Whiteside all of Alabama and numerous neices and nephews.
