James "Copey" Duff

James “Copey” Duff, 31, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away November 19, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Calvary Assembly of God located at 2107 W. Church St with Pastor Phillip Price officiating.

Copey was born October 30, 1990 in San Diego, California and moved to Loving, New Mexico shortly after birth. He graduated from Loving High School in 2009. Copey married the love of his life on February 20, 2016. He loved her with every fiber of his being. Shortly after getting married he was diagnosed with advanced stage heart failure. The bond they shared only grew stronger as times got harder. He fought a difficult battle and gave it everything he had. Copey was very talented musically. In his spare time he loved to play his guitars. He could play anything he set his mind to. By the end he had mastered the electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and a juice harp. He was learning the banjo and the dobro when he got sick. He had a fierce passion for fishing. You could find him every spare minute of the day along the river fishing away. Copey had many challenges in different areas of his life. He always took these challenges head on always making the best of every situation thrown his way. Copey would go out of his way to help anybody who crossed his path. His love of family and love of his siblings was a priority in his life.

Copey was preceded in death by his mother, Delinda Dominguez; grandfather, Bud Gower.

Survivors are his wife, Megan Duff; father, Ed Duff and wife, Dawn; grandmother, Micki Stanley and husband, Bruce; siblings: Meagan Blakley, Corey Duff, Matthew Duff, Brande Munoz, Mariah Martinez, Cheyanne Perez, Bennita Martinez, Aries Dominguez and Daniel; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to express gratitude to Lakeview Hospice Team, Dr. Amanda Ryan, and everyone involved with his care during his heart failure journey.
