James "Bill" W. Hodge

James W. "Bill" Hodge was born in Tahoka, Texas on September 6, 1931 and passed away in Carlsbad, NM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alma Hodge; infant daughter, Denise; daughters: Carolyn Ryan and Edwina Reeves; brothers: A. L. and Bobby; sisters; Robby and Joyce. Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clayde "Day" Hodge; daughters: Jean Tupper and Fran Altgilbers; son, Larry Anglin, Sr.; sisters: Linda and Wilma and numerous grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. Bill was very proud of his time in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict of the 1950's. He worked at IMC Potash Mines for 11 years, then worked for Gray Pumping Service for many years and was well known throughout his career as a man that would help anybody in need. If you had problems in the oilfield and needed a helping hand, you could call on Bill Hodge. As a member in good standing of the McDonald's Coffee club, he could tell tales as tall as any of them. He was an ornery old cuss and well loved because of his devotion to family and loyalty to his friends. Grandpa, we'll miss you. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Loving Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Ryan officiating. Following the service there will be a meal at the church fellowship hall. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
