Jacqueline "Jackie" Hadzic

Jacqueline “Jackie” Hadzic Piaget de Andreu died peacefully in her home in Carlsbad NM, with her husband at her side, on February 14, 2023.  She was a Peruvian child, a Swiss teenager, a Canadian mother and an American grandmother. Life saw her settle in Carlsbad, where she practiced as a nurse and a staunch social activist.

Jackie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Aurora & Charles Henry Piaget; her brothers: Carlos and Alexis Piaget and her infant daughter. She will be celebrated in life by her husband, Ejub Carlos; her daughters: Nathalie Volkle Castillo and Matilda Hadzic of Santa Fe; her sons: Andre Hadzic from Switzerland, and Daniel Hadzic and his wife, Stephenie of Levelland, Texas. Her memory will also be carried by her 3 sisters: Katherine Piaget, Beatrice von Allmen and Elizabeth Jacot and their families in Switzerland.  And, of course, she is survived by a bountiful number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins sprinkled all over the world.

Jackie was beloved by all who knew her, and she loved everyone in return.  She is honored by her children with these words: Maman was always an optimist and carried songs in her heart…she made the world a better place. My mother gave us the wings of self-esteem; she taught us to stand on her shoulders and lift others up on our own. She loved everyone at their very best, and saw beauty at every opportunity.  My mother has risen to Heaven – I am certain that she is well with God, in calm serenity.

She personified the phrase “Love is All You Need”.  She will be missed, but always dearly loved and remembered.

Funeral services will be held at Denton-Wood Funeral Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm.  We encourage everyone who would like to share a loving thought or memory to participate in Jackie’s honor.  After services, the viewing will continue until 3:00 pm.
