Jack Wayne Lanier, 76, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Kent Hitchens officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jack Wayne Lanier was born March 5, 1939 in Aztec, New Mexico to Leo and Bonnie (Cox) Lanier. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1957. Jack married Judy Tweedy on May 22, 1958 in Carlsbad, NM. He went to work for Nichols Printing in 1956 while in high school. Jack later purchased the company in 1972 where he worked until retiring in 2014. Jack was the past Exalted Ruler and honorary life member of Carlsbad Elks Lodge # 1558 and also past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. Jack was a past president of the Carlsbad Softball Association. He was a member of the Brantley Lake Advisory Board and RCC. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing pool. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Judy Lanier; sons: Gary Lanier and wife, Judy, Bruce Lanier and wife, Lori; daughter, Brenda Dunn and husband, Daniel; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers: Jimmy Lanier and wife, Doris of Farmington, NM, Gary David Lanier and wife, Linda of Aztec, NM. Pallbearers are Dean Calvani, Jerry Hitchcock, Todd Jones, Danny Miller, Terry Johnston, Billy Morahand and Jerry Porter. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
