Jack L. Wigley, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, died peacefully on July 4, 2013, at home on Richland-Chambers Lake in Streetman, Tx. Born in Paoli, Oklahoma on September 28, 1933, Jack lived most of his life in New Mexico.
Formerly President of Industrial Bus Lines in Carlsbad, Jack was a Navy navigator during the Korean War. He retained friendships and enjoyed various reunions of Navy veterans. He was a member of the VC-35/VA(AW)-35 and Tailhook Associations. In 2007, Jack was inducted into the Enlisted Combat Aircrew Roll of Honor by the Navy in a ceremony in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
In retirement, Jack was fond of traveling throughout the United States in "Big Blue," an Eagle bus that had been converted into a motor home. With his wife Baby, he took numerous trips to visit friends and family.
During his years in Carlsbad, Jack was a member of the B.P.O.E and on the Board of Directors of Carlsbad Savings and Loan. But his first love was family. An inveterate storyteller, Jack often regaled his family with stories of his youth, his military experiences, and life in general. He loved to dispense advice, and it was always well received. He will be missed by his best audience.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cecilia "Baby" Wigley; children Pam Jones of Troup, TX, Jack D. Wigley of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Jayson Wigley of Gilbert, AZ; Kharol Johnson of Streetman, TX and Bobby Johnson of Paradise Valley, AZ; sisters Barbara Wilcox, Judy Pulice and Joanie Bibby, all of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his mother Jewel and his father Jack T., and brother Ben C. Wigley of Phoenix. He was grandfather to nine and great grandfather to three.
Services will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, Friday, July 12 at 10 am. Burial will follow in the Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 630 W. Main Street, Fairfield, Texas, 75840 or a charity of your choice in memory of Jack L. Wigley.
