Iva Dale Hoyle, age 99, went to be with her lord and savior on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024 at Goodlife Assisted Living in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Iva “Dale” Myers Hoyle was born in Lometa, Texas on March 5, 1925 to Richard and Lillian Myers. She spent her early years on the family farm near San Saba, Texas. She married the love of her life L.C. Hoyle on January 20, 1941 and they began their lives together in Abilene, Texas where their first daughter, Ponice was born. In 1947 the family relocated to Carlsbad, NM.
Dale worked at Platt Drug and Sears & Roebuck for a short period of time before starting her long-term career with the City of Carlsbad. She served the City for 30 years retiring in 1987. During her time with the city she could be found patrolling downtown Carlsbad as a meter maid. She later transferred into the water department where she served out the rest of her career.
Dale was blessed with many gifts. One of her greatest attributes was her compassion for caring for those close to her. Over the years she took care of multiple family members in their latter years and times of need. She spent over 40 years taking care of her husband while he battled cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. She was described by family members as the Godliest woman they’ve ever known. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 70 years. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, dominoes & reading her bible. She also found joy in making sourdough bread weekly and gifting it to others.
Dale was proceeded in death by her parents, Lillian & Richard Myers; her husband, L.C. Hoyle; her infant daughter, Nedra Hoyle; brothers, Lyndon Myers & Deloy Myers.
Dale is survived by her daughter, Ponice Neel of Carlsbad; granddaughter, Angela Lynch & husband Dale of Carlsbad; grandson, Kelly Neel of Carlsbad, great granddaughter, Kayli Archer & husband Hazer of Carlsbad; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Sam Plumlee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 629, Portales, NM 88130.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care given to Iva Dale by her caregivers, Enhabit Hospice, and the staff at GoodLife Senior Living. And to all those that knew her, she loved you all “a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.
