Irene M. Jones

Obituary Irene M. Jones, 70, of Landsun Drive, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 PM 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, January 28, 2019 at Calvary Assembly of God with Pastor Phillip Price officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Irene was born July 14, 1948 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Harold D. and Marion (Chmael) Edmondson and moved to Artesia, New Mexico with her family as a young girl. She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1966. Irene married Dailey M. Jones, II November 26, 1969 in Hobbs, NM. They moved to Carlsbad in 1975. She went to work for the school system while attending College of the Southwest and received a bachelors in education. Irene enjoyed working with kids. She loved traveling and spending time with her family. Irene joined Dailey in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in July of 2008 after closing her fathers estate. Dailey had retired at the end of 2007 from Mosaic Potash to go to work for an engineering company there on potash plant expansions. Dailey and Irene lived there until the end of 2014 when they come back to Carlsbad. While in Canada they made many dear friends and traveled extensively both in Canada and to Europe for SMRI meetings. She really enjoyed the international travel very much and loved living there in spite of the frigid winter weather. Irene was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors are her husband, Dailey Jones of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Kelly Jones of Carlsbad, NM and Sarah Jones of Carlsbad, NM; grandson, William Jones; brother, Andy Edmondson and wife, Marlene of Carlsbad, NM and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dick Jones, Josh Jones, John Schmidt, Jesse Ortiz, Stewart Jones and David Rosprim. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Calvary Assembly of God, 2107 W.
