Reba Inez Haney, a 60 year resident of Carlsbad, passed away June 4, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Services for Inez Haney will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at First Baptist Church with Kevin Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Denton Wood Funeral Home with the family receiving guests between 5 and 6 pm. Reba Inez Haney was born to Vesta and John Woods in Paris, Arkansas, on November 5, 1922. She and her sister, Zona, were raised by loving extended family members until their graduation from high school. Inez married Kenneth Nichols during WWII. After living in several states during WWII, the family moved to Carlsbad in 1949. In 1974 she married Henry Haney who remained her loving husband until his passing in 2007. Inez worked as a homemaker, and in the grocery business for many years before retiring in 1988. Inez loved caring for her family, visiting with friends, traveling, attending First Baptist Church, and listening to the music of the Grand Ol' Opry. Inez was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Haney; son, David Nichols and grandson, Jack Nichols. She is survived by sister, Zona Binyon of Carsbad; sons: Johnny Nichols of Carlsbad, Oneal Nichols of Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Judy and husband Mark Carter of Carlsbad; grandchildren: Eric Nichols, Jamie Nichols, Max Nichols, Rachel Nichols, Ashley Nichols, Adrienne Nichols, Loren Medley, Summer Medley Macon (Wayne), and Christopher Medley; two great-grandsons: Zander Smith and Elijah Smith, many dear relatives in Arkansas, and many friends in Carlsbad and all across the country. Pallbearers will be sons: Oneal and Johnny Nichols; granddaughter, Summer Macon and husband, Wayne Macon; son-in-law, Mark Carter and his son, Duane Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: Loren Medley, Nanning, China, and Christopher Medley, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Inez, Mom, Mamaw, you will remain always in our heart.
