Howard Carlton, 94, of S. 11th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 16, 2015 at Hobbs Health Care, Hobbs, New Mexico.
There will be no public visitation.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, December 21, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor David W. Rogers officiating.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Howard Carlton was born January 3, 1921 in Kiowa, Oklahoma to Raymond Chester and Alcie (Williams) Carlton. He married Zellah Burnett July 2, 1941. Howard worked at Sam Thomas Motor Company over 30 years before retiring. He was a Studebaker enthusiast and enjoyed restoring them. Howard also loved playing the fiddle which he played by ear. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Chester and Eugene Carlton.
Survivors are his wife, Zellah Carlton; daughters: Dorothy Jean Carsey and husband, Norman, Judy Jensen and husband, Dale; grandchildren: Meil Gray and husband, Jeff, Aaron Carsey and wife, Lisa, Brad Jensen, Chaney Schoenherr, Shelsey Polito and husband, Justin, Brant Jensen; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
