Houston "Pecos/Gooney Bird" Workman, 66, of South 5th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 15, 2012 at his home.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 3:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Dick Means officiating.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Houston "Pecos/Gooney Bird" Workman was born March 28, 1946 in New Town, West Virginia to Houston and Minerva (Hammonds) Workman, Sr. He moved to Carlsbad as a young boy with his family. Houston served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam on the USS Constellation. He married Nancy L. Rolfes on January 2, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Houston worked for Duvall/Western Ag over 28 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Workman of Carlsbad, NM; son, Tracy Workman and wife, Stefanie of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Teresa Phillips and husband, Kevin of Carlsbad, NM; five grandchildren: Kellie Workman, Collin Workman, Courtney Workman, Morgan Phillips, Malee Phillips; sister, Glendene Brewer of McKinney, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
