Hortencia Castillo Ramirez, 55, of Kevil Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at University Hospital in Lubbock, TX. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for October 27, 2011, Thursday, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Hortencia Castillo Ramirez was born April 30, 1956 in Carlsbad, NM to Robert and Esperanza (Galindo) Castillo, Sr. She married Carlos Ramirez on August 25, 1975 here in Carlsbad. Hortencia loved playing bingo and taking trips to the casinos. She also loved taking care of her grandchildren and cooking for everyone. Hortencia always enjoyed time with family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esperanza Castillo. Survivors are her husband, Carlos Ramirez of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Cecelia Cooper of Carlsbad, NM; son, Carlos Ramirez, Jr. and wife, Gloria of Carlsbad, NM; father, Robert Castillo, Sr. and wife, Olivia of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Jay, Dakota, Dia, Storm, Dusty, Gabriel, Lynniyah, Jahnessa, Dezirae, Christopher, Salina, Marcus, Jeramiah, Esteban; sister, Lilly Garcia; brothers: Robert Castillo, Jr. and wife Orelia, Albert Castillo and wife, Hortencia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jesus and Josefina Ramirez and numerous nieces, nephews and exteneded family.
