Homer Back

Homer Back, 85 of Carlsbad, passed away in his home January 2, 2025.

No services will be held in Carlsbad, NM per his request. Internment will take place in the Marshall family cemetery, Culvertown, KY. A small service will be held there at a later date.

 He was born August 16, 1939 in Stephenson, Kentucky to Edith Marshall and Edison Back. 

He later moved to Ohio and served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961. Homer returned to Ohio where he met and married Joyce Eldridge. He moved his family to Carlsbad, NM in 1981 and went to work in the Potash mines until his retirement. 

Homer is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Eldridge Back; parents: Edison Back and Edith Marshall Back; four brothers: Edgar, Hacker, Hagar and Garner Back; four sisters: Madge Jones, Maise Back, Marinda Daughtery and Von Culver. 

 Homer is survived by his children: David Back & Barbara of Carlsbad, NM; Tammy Miller of Columbus, OH; Delinda Elms of Carlsbad, NM; Richard Back of Orange, TX, two brothers: Nem Back of Hodgenville, Ky; James Back of Howardstown, Ky; one sister, Beth Rust of Newhaven, KY; eleven grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren.
