Hilaria A. Buendia

Hilaria A. Buendia, 87, of Howard Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home. There will be no public visitation. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, September 14, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 2:00 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Hilaria A. Buendia was born October 21, 1927 in Loving, New Mexico to Marcos and Bernarda (Urquidez) Aranda. She worked as a seamstress for many years. Hilaria enjoyed cooking, gardening and volunteering at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Luis Buendia, Adan Buendia; daughters: Mary Helen Buendia, Sally Buendia; grandson, Jesse Gonzales; brother, Pedro Aranda and sister, Patricia Urquidez. Survivors are her children: Carlos Buendia and wife, Lilly, Carolina Adame and husband, Jesus, Susana Squires, Margarita Gonzales and husband, Amalio, Amalia Quesada and husband, Alfonso, Marcela Wallace and husband, Andrew; stepchildren: Joe Buendia and wife, Delma, Miguel Buendia and wife, Nina, Angie Henry and husband, Troy, David Buendia, Raul Buendia, Cecilia Buendia, George Buendia and wife, Corina; 31 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Christin Aranda; sisters: Alexandra Garcia and Guadalupe Mendoza. Pallbearers will be Derek Gonzales, Rocky Gonzales, Tony Sosa, T. J. Sosa, Junior Buendia, Joe Buendia, Jesus Adame. Honorary pallbearer is Amalio Gonzales.
