Herman M. Hernandez, 82, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.  Herman was born on March 24, 1941, in Loma Pelona/Presidio, TX to Teodoro and Eusebia Hernandez. He grew up and graduated High School in Loving, NM

Herman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.   He and his family resided in Odessa, TX where he spent time as an Odessa Police Officer.  In 1969, work took him to Dallas, TX.  There, he spent the rest of his work career as a very well-respected building contractor, building some of the most beautiful homes in the Dallas area.  He retired and returned to Carlsbad, NM, and spent the last 10 years back home.

Herman will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He had a passion for football and The Dallas Cowboys.  He loved vacationing with friends and family and enjoyed the casinos.  Herman was an avid sportsman.  Spent every opportunity he could hunting and fishing.  These were some of his happiest and most treasured times with family and friends.

Herman was preceded in death by his father, Teodoro Hernandez, and mother, Eusebia (Molinar) Hernandez.

Herman is survived by his three children: Herman Hernandez Jr, of Dallas, Texas, Gloria (Hernandez) Olivarez, of Carrollton, Texas; Gabriel Hernandez, of Dallas, Texas. Seven grandchildren: Monica Olivarez, Annalicia Olivarez, Ciarra Cortez and husband Ruben, Sophia Hernandez, Morgan Hernandez, Gunner Hernandez, Chloe Hernandez; one great-grandson, Devin Michael Mills. Four siblings: Alicia Rocha of San Francisco, CA; Ofelia Valenzuela of Lovington, NM; Hilda Garza of Lubbock, TX; and Dora Calderon and husband Pete of Carlsbad, NM. Ex-wife, Laura Quiroz Hernandez, of Dallas, Texas, Companion Refugia “Cuca” Castillo

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Denton-Wood will oversee the arrangements.
